Studying and cataloging audiences is one of the most important aspects of media production and media studies.

Every media product is targeted at specific audiences... however there are media products that are aimed at a MASS AUDIENCES - can you think of any products that have mass audience appeal?
Media products that have a much narrower audience appeal are said to have a NICHE audience. Amongst some of these products are HOBBIE magazines,  even certain kinds of films and TV programmes.

  • Name 5 ways in which audiences can be categorised.
-Gender
-Age
-religion
-social class
-race/nationality

  • Why do you think it's important for media producers to categorise audiences?
If they categorise audiences, they can actually gain more viewers and audiences from aiming their product to other people similar to them (eg similar age and interested in the same things.

  • What is the target audience as described in your chosen brief?
10-13

  • Give a short explanation as to your understanding of the target audience given in your chosen brief.
Well they would be more interested in something less educational and boring than something colourful and fun to learn/do. They are still quite young so mainly no complected words that they most likely wouldn't understand.

What did you find useful about the information collated?

I found that most people have never picked up a magazine about animals ever and how blue and green (earthy colours) are what people expect to see in a magazine about animals.

How are you going to use the information collated to establish/define a target audience for your product?

By following what the audiences want, colour, pets, information, etc.

What does your audience expect to see in the product you're going to create?

Mainly facts on animals and some animal care.

How are you going to use the information collated to come up with designs and house-styles for your product?

With the colours and animals most wanted to be seen (dogs and snakes).

-----------

My audiences is mainly male and interested in both animal care and facts about animals which has never picked up an animal magazine before. Majority describe animals as loving and believe blue, green and orange should be the main colour themes.
